Chicago

Chicago is my first destination on my trip! Chicago is the only city on my trip I've already been too. This is mostly do to the fact that my sister lives there as an artist/beekeeper/beer server & drinker/ home chef/cat owner/ and so much more. I haven't been to Chicago during the summer, in a long time, so I am glad I am going this year. Don't get me wrong there are things to do in the "Windy City" in the winter, however I'm someone who prefers to walk around a city and explore without freezing my a$$ off.

Things I want to do while in Chicago!!

1. Visit Girl and the Goat!!

Okay for those who know nothing about the Girl and the Goat and Stephanie Izard, I'm going to give you the low down!! I did a project on Stephanie Izard and her restaurant this year and basically wanted to visit ever since. Stephanie was a winner of Bravo's Top Chef, won the Beard in 2013 award for Best Chef  in the Great Lakes, and she is also a female so that makes her super cool in my book!! #FemaleChefs!!! She also grow up in Stamford CT which is funny to me because that's where my mom teaches elementary art (not really funny I just like having some kind of connection with Stephanie)
Girl and the Goats food philosophy is nose-to-tail cuisine which means using every part of the animal and they aren’t called Girl and the goat for no reason they use all of the goat! Going through seven whole goats in a week (Bowen, 2011). For things such as goat belly specials, goat loans, goat T- bones and sausages. They braise the goat, they smoke the goat, and they do anything you can imagine to the goat.

2.  Check out Little Goat Bakery!

Okay yes I might sound a little crazed about this whole Goat thing however I am a Pastry major and Mama gotta have her pastries (haha I'm never saying that out loud). And if Little Goat is as great as Girl and the Goat then I have to check it out!

3. This is "sappy" but I want to spend time with my sister her cats, her boyfriend, and her Chicago peeps! My sister has made a life for herself out in Chicago and she just moved into a new place with her boyfriend so I want to see all of that. Maybe it will inspire me for the type of life I want to create.
